A look back in history

Tewkesbury is famous for its rich heritage.  The world-famous Abbey with its fine Norman spire, as well as the stunning Medieval cottages and striking Tudor architecture, attracts thousands of visitors every year.

The best leisure facilities for the perfect lifestyle

Tewkesbury has leisure facilities to suit all tastes and preferences.  The recently refurbished Roses Theatre is the town's centre for the arts.  As well as live performances of plays, musicals and comedy, the Roses hosts films, concerts, exhibitions and other events.  Cotteswold Coffee @ The Roses is the theatre's very own cafe serving a delicious selection of locally sourced food and drink.  For more information, please visit www.rosestheatre.org.

Brand new to the town is Tewkesbury Leisure Centre which features two pools, a 60 piece gym, a host of exercise classes and its own on-site cafe, the centre has fitness facilities for all the family.  See the website for all the details and opening times.

For more leisurely pursuits, try the abundance of riverside and country walks in and around Tewkesbury.  There's also a Nature Reserve to explore, cycle routes to follow, plus fishing and a ferry boat service.  

What's on all year around

There's a packed schedule of events from January to December in Tewkesbury.  Every July the town hosts the famous Medieval Festival to commemorate the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471.  

In the summer, the town hosts the Food & Drink Festival in the grounds of Tewkesbury Abbey and the classic vehicle festival on the grounds of Tewkesbury School. For two days every October the town's streets are taken over by the annual Mop Fair, where there are rides and food stands for all ages to enjoy.

In November, there is the Festival of Lights during the countdown to Christmas and the towns annual Christmas lights turn on, which has a range stands from local businesses lining the street.

As well as the regular weekly market, there is a monthly Farmers' & Craft Market and regular High Street Fine Food & Arts Market.
