Ever since Mike has been in post as Chief Executive of Tewkesbury Borough Council, he has been focused on promoting the town’s business potential.
Leading a local authority has many different and varied responsibilities but Mike believes a thriving and vibrant economy is a key driver to success across all areas.
“Tewkesbury is very fortunate in already having some great businesses,” says Mike. “They are here because of the great connections, access to a skilled and motivated workforce and the enjoyable lifestyle."
“We don’t take that for granted and we work hard to maintain those benefits. Improving and enhancing our offer is a constant priority.”
Mike has more than 40 years experience in local government. Immediately before taking up his role at Tewkesbury Borough Council 7 years ago, he was Director for Communities at St Edmundsbury Borough Council in Suffolk, where he was involved in major town centre regeneration schemes.
His role now is to provide strategic leadership for the Borough Council. In ensuring the authority’s services are high quality and good value, he knows they will make a major contribution to the success of Tewkesbury’s community and businesses.
“Tewkesbury has huge potential for the future. We’ve just got to make sure everyone knows about it! We all need to get out there and tell as many people as we can that not only is the town a lovely place to visit and live but it’s also a fantastic place to do business."
“We’ve got big plans! There’s so much more to come.”
